3 Short, Very Short Videos and the Leica S2

Maggie has been experimenting with video on the Leica V-LUX 20 camera which was so generously loaned to us by Andreas Kaufman of Leica. I should also mention here that all the work I am doing for the Provence book is being made with the new Leica S2, a remarkable medium format camera with some of the qualities of my large format Deardorff film camera. This is something I never thought I would be comfortable saying, but which, given the new technologies of today, is here, now, and is the perfect instrument for me to do the work that Provence calls for. In fact you have been looking at a lot of those images already here in the blog. I can also say that the printing quality is indistinguishable from a print made from my trusty old 8x10 Deardorff. That really shocked me when I first saw the comparison last fall after a month of using the camera during the summer. I made two side by side prints at 60 inches and at that size there was no difference! It was just the encouragement I needed to convince me to work with it in Provence. What a new moment we are in!

Yesterday it was 75 degrees and people were in the water!

Here are a few of Maggie's videos:
